About Garry
I've been creating portrait and wedding photographs on a part-time basis for
over 15 years. I've enjoyed photographing people and a variety of other
subjects for many years and I look forward to many more challenges and
adventures. Photos from my personal collection are available for viewing in
the Weiler Galleries and most are available for purchase.
My interest in photography started in 1987 when I joined a photography club
(Etobicoke Camera Club) and became fascinated with the magic, adventure
and art of photography. A few years later I studied fashion, product, portrait
and wedding photography at Humber College and started photographing
weddings in 1992. I continue to attend seminars, workshops and
presentations to upgrade my photography skills.
Photography is one of my greatest passions in life. I love the feeling of instant
satisfaction when a vision I see through the camera quickly becomes reality
as an image of a special moment in time.
I believe photographs have an amazing power. They give us warm memories
of the people that have touched our hearts and photographs give us a special
feeling and memories of places we've been and explored and activities we've
participated in. Photographs capture the events of our lives.
In addition to photography, my creative background includes graphic design,
presentation mapping, audio-visual presentations and digital imaging. I'm a
graduate Architectural Design Technician and I've always appreciated
beautiful buildings and enjoy photographing structures of all kinds.
My full time employment as a Senior Design Technologist enables me to
design and create a variety of graphic and visual products for publication,
display and presentations and I enjoy my job very much. Please note that
none of the photos on this website, or in my personal collection, were
created during my Senior Design Technologist position duties.
Several of my photos have been published in reports, studies, brochures,
Business and Finance magazines, a business directory publication, the
Financial Times newspaper, a calendar and book about the building of
Skydome (now known as the Rogers Centre) and on the covers of three
of vocalist Teresa Klimusko's audio cassettes.
Some of my photos were exhibited at the Etobicoke Civic Centre art gallery,
Montgomery's Inn gallery, Peel County Restaurant gallery and a series of
my photos of Skydome were purchased and displayed inside Skydome for
over 10 years.
When creating portraits my goal is to capture the best qualities of my subjects
by using quality lighting, strong composition, simple and natural poses,
achieving meaningful expressions and by using backgrounds that compliment
and blend well with the subjects.
Creating and providing others with extraordinary photographs of themselves
and their loved ones is very satisfying for me. My ultimate goal is for my clients
to enjoy my photographs as much as I enjoy creating them.
